Restless Development is a global non-profit agency. We support the collective power of young leaders to create a better world. We are registered and independently governed in nine countries (India, Nepal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, USA, Zambia and Zimbabwe), united by our vision of youth empowerment.
We deliver youth-led programmes to address the issues that matter most to them. We also manage the Youth Collective, a growing network of over 5,000 local youth-led organisations in 185 countries. We are committed to creating an agency that puts its energy transfer principles into practice, using the energy transfer checklist, both internally and externally.
About the position
Restless Development is a leading youth-led development agency. We have been working in Tanzania since 1993 and have built an impressive track record of delivering local impact through youth-led development programmes in line with the Tanzanian government’s successive national development plans.
In partnership with UNFPA, we will implement the Vijana Tunaweza Project to empower first-time mothers and young people in the regions of Dodoma, Songwe and Dar es Salaam from January 2025 to December 2025. This project will address vulnerabilities such as HIV/AIDS, unintended pregnancy and gender-based violence by improving economic opportunities, strengthening life skills and fostering supportive community ecosystems. The project will focus on creating youth and women’s groups to generate income, engaging boys and men to challenge harmful gender norms, and strengthening local support structures for sustainable empowerment. In addition, in collaboration with other partners, the project will promote systemic change through policy reviews, advocacy campaigns and youth engagement in the upcoming general elections, with a focus on supporting young women to actively participate in the electoral process.
The Deputy Program Coordinator will oversee the implementation of the Vijana Tunaweza programme, focusing on out-of-school adolescent girls, youth and first-time mothers in the regions of Dodoma, Songwe and Dar es Salaam. This role includes coordinating program activities to ensure alignment with objectives and foster sustainable empowerment through economic opportunity, social development and leadership development. In addition, the role will include partial support for the coordination of activities among consortium partners to ensure sustainable and effective program implementation.
