About the position
Restless Development is the leading youth-led development agency. We have been working in Tanzania since 1993 and have built an impressive track record of local impact through youth-led development programs aligned with the Tanzanian government’s successive national development plans.
In partnership with UNICEF, we will implement a project to address education gaps and improve outcomes for vulnerable adolescents in Kigoma, Songwe and Tabora from February 2025 to April 2026. The project will address barriers such as financial constraints, gender inequality and inadequate teaching materials. . with a focus on girls’ retention, empowerment and leadership development.
The intern will lead the identification of targeted adolescents and their needs in schools and communities, ensuring that resources are distributed efficiently and equitably. Additionally, the intern will oversee the implementation of mentoring and empowerment programs at the regional level. They will coordinate the provision of financial support, mentoring, mindset transformation workshops, and community campaigns, while actively contributing to building girls’ leadership capacity and helping to train teachers in inclusive education strategies.
Experience
A degree in a relevant discipline, such as public health, social sciences, or humanities, with an emphasis in areas such as community development, social work, project management, education, adolescent health, or gender studies.
Competencies in addressing issues related to adolescent education, school attendance, and sexual and reproductive health.
Experience in implementing educational or health projects for adolescents in Tanzania, focusing on issues such as school dropout, gender equality, or menstrual health management.
Solid understanding of contemporary challenges facing adolescents, such as limited access to education, reproductive health services, and skills development.
