Following several successful rounds of the Global Citizen Scholarship Program, the Ban Kimoon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC) is excited to open applications for the 8th edition of our Global Citizen Scholarship. This initiative aims to support young African leaders who are eager to make a difference in regard to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The GC Scholarship is an entirely online program designed to enable young African activists to tackle one or more of the SDGs within their communities. Participants will develop and carry out a localized SDG MicroProject while also having access to a summer school experience, along with peer mentoring and various specialized training workshops on important subjects.
The training program focuses on 14 young African leaders, ages 20 to 35, from various African nations. Three students from Management Center Innsbruck University will also join the selected participants, creating a total group of 17 changemakers in this year’s scholarship opportunity.
The program begins in April 2025. Throughout 8 to 9 months, chosen Scholars will improve their skills related to Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals. They will gain knowledge about entrepreneurship linked to sustainable development and build connections with professional networks. Additionally, benefits include full funding for a twoweek summer school at Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) University, as well as coverage for various expert workshops, a peertopeer mentoring program, and seed funding of 500 USD available for launching an SDG MicroProject after successfully presenting a project proposal. Finally, upon completing their own SDG MicroProject, Scholars will receive a certificate of achievement endorsed by both Cochairs of the Ban Kimoon Centre, H. E. Ban Kimoon and H. E. Dr Heinz Fischer. Improve your entrepreneurial abilities in sustainable development, expand your connections, and take advantage of the opportunity to build your practical skills on sustainable development by creating your own SDG MicroProject!.
