The Pollinization Project aims to support changemakers whose work contributes to building a kinder and more compassionate world. We do not have strict criteria for the projects we fund, preferring to be guided by our community and applicants like you. As long as your work aligns with our broad guidelines, our team will consider any effort that moves us toward a better world. Funding decisions are made on an ongoing basis by over 100 volunteer grant advisors, most of whom have previously received seed funding from the Pollinization Project.
We are honored to learn more about your project and vision. We hope this is the beginning of a meaningful relationship with you, one that begins with initial funding but grows as you connect and engage with our global community of over 6,000 changemakers.
Who we fund:
We fund individuals, groups, and informal organizations, as well as registered or formally incorporated nonprofits based anywhere in the world.
We open our application process to as many people as possible. That said, we have some guidelines that help us stay aligned with our core values.
We support
Ideas in the early stage
The annual budget of your group or organization must be less than $50,000 and the total cost of the project must be less than $10,000
Practical dreamers:
We are looking for evidence that you have started working on your project
New people and projects:
If you, a member of your group or your organization has already received funding from us for this project or any other work, we ask that you leave them the option to apply for initial funding instead of submitting a new application. Likewise, no other representative of your group or organization must currently have a proposal actively considered by us at the time of your request.
Basic volunteerism:
your group or organization should not have paid staff. Your project must not be designed to generate personal profit for you or anyone else. Note: If you occasionally outsource web design, accounting or other professional services, this is allowed. If you generate profits, they must be reinvested in a non-profit endeavor.
Compassionate Awareness:
We will not fund any person or organization that carries out work to promote or protect animal agriculture, even if it is not part of your TEC proposal.
Freedom of any kind, including religious freedom:
We cannot support projects or groups that seek to proselytize, evangelize, or require those who serve to participate in religious practices.
Equality and Inclusion:
You and your group/organization must not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, age, or creed
Legal Compliance:
Legally, we cannot support work that aims to influence the outcome of elections for particular candidates, or work that incites or encourages the violation of law or public policy, or work that results in improper private gain. Finally, to receive a grant, you or your group/organization must be able to receive a bank transfer or Paypal payment in US dollars.
What we cannot fund:
We believe that you are the best person to decide how your seed funding should be used, and we will cover most project costs that are included in the guidelines above.
There are certain costs that we cannot cover, including:
Payments to a beneficiary or family member for time or services.
Purchase of animal products, including but not limited to meat, honey, milk, and hides.
Work that promotes the consumption of animal products or projects that involve nutritional advice other than adopting a plant-based diet or eliminating/reducing meat consumption.
Any event during which animal products will be served.
Beekeeping projects that produce honey for human consumption.
Any project that uses synthetic/chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other products that harm the environment and/or human health.
Research projects without a tangible plan for how this research will create real change in the world. We do not fund college courses.
Donations in your name to a project you are not affiliated with.
