The U.S. Embassy in Bratislava and the Department of State are announcing an open call for applications from organizations seeking to implement a program designed to promote the social and economic empowerment of women and provide women entrepreneurs with the knowledge, networks, and access to launch and grow. successful. businesses. Program Objectives:
The U.S. Embassy in Bratislava is seeking proposals to advance women’s economic opportunities and equip women with the skills and resources to participate in the economy through the Academy of Women’s Entrepreneurship (AWE).
AWE seeks to bring together a group of approximately 30 women who will meet online and in person to learn basic business skills, including strategic planning, marketing, and finance. The program uses the free online learning platform DreamBuilder, which teaches participants the basic principles of starting or growing a small business from a U.S. perspective. DreamBuilder offers modules on marketing, pricing, and accounting, and includes a built-in business plan generator. Participants discuss the modules with local facilitators, business leaders, and mentors from former U.S. exchange participants.
AWE strongly encourages applicants to partner with local NGOs, universities, and chambers of commerce for this program to provide women with opportunities to enhance their new business skills and network with other entrepreneurs through rapid mentoring, field competitions, and trade shows.
Proposals must utilize DreamBuilder for their program. Successful proposals will also demonstrate strong engagement from U.S. graduate students, exchange participants, expert speakers, and women business leaders, including those with ties to the United States, and will include field visits to successful women-led businesses to provide inspiration and experience.
