The Edinburgh Futures Institute is seeking applications for its 2025/2026 Research Fellowship Programme, following the success of our inaugural programme last year.
We are looking for candidates who align with our vision to challenge, create and make things happen. We tackle complex problems by bringing together people and disciplines to inspire the unexpected and enable a better future.
The Research Fellowship Programme offers researchers who hold a permanent position in an academic institution the opportunity to work at the Futures Institute for 3 to 6 months. We offer a stipend of £1,500.00 per month, as well as reimbursement of travel and visa costs where applicable. Successful candidates will be expected to make a contribution to our research community, by giving lectures or seminars, collaborating on grant proposals, or contributing to teaching.
The candidate’s research should contribute to innovation in collaborative, data-driven and interdisciplinary research across the University of Edinburgh, in one of our six key research areas:
Creative Industries and Digital Humanities
Data Ethics and Artificial Intelligence
Financial Services and Fintech
Future Infrastructure
Public Sector: Prevention, Citizen Data, Participatory Democracy, Governance
Tourism and Festivals
Applications from scholars in these fields are encouraged and decisions will be made based on experience and research as required for the career stage. We will also give particular consideration to candidates from low- and middle-income countries, or other candidates representing minorities, who are currently under-represented in the Futures Institutes. Visiting scholars will be able to participate in our seminars and events programme, access our training courses, and interact with other Futures Institute affiliated academics, our business and third sector partners, and our students. This programme will therefore help researchers to develop their research in dialogue with their colleagues in Edinburgh, but will also allow the Edinburgh Futures Institute and the university more generally to foster new links of international collaboration.
The deadline for applications is 23 January 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of February 2024. Go to: https://efi.ed.ac.uk/research/visiting-fellowship-programme/ for more details and apply.
