The Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) is seeking on behalf of WorldFish a highly qualified Field Coordinator who
will be based in the AfricaRice office in Suakoko/Liberia. He/she will work under the supervision of the project’s Food and Value Chain Specialist, who will act as project manager and remotely supervise the Chief Scientist and Project Manager.

Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Food and Value Chain Project Specialist, the Field Coordinator will coordinate the WorldFish field activities in Liberia under seed4Liberia. Job Responsibilities
Will carry out activities with specific tasks that include, among others:

  • Assist in field studies, surveys and research work as part of the Seeds4Liberia project.
  • Identify farmers and value chain actors with emphasis on farmer groups to establish Community Based Seed Producers (CBSP) and Seed Entrepreneurs (CBSE) and Private Sector Enterprises (PSC) for seed supply.
  • Organize capacity building program for PSCs, CBSEs and CBSPs and help develop a fish seed supply network.
  • Participate in all other capacity building programs organized by the project.
  • Assist in the organization of the Farmers Field School (FFBS) and ensure the implementation of FFBS activities and record keeping
  • Support to PSCs, CBSEs and CBSPs for the production and supply of fish seeds. • Organize training and education of farmers on the use of quality assured fish seeds.
  • Link breeders, PSCs, CBSEs and CBSPs with NaFAA and CARI to ensure the safety of birds and chicks.
  • Identify private entrepreneurs capable of running a pet food business and assist pet food entrepreneurs in
    ingredient sourcing, production and business promotion.
  • Submit monthly reports on technical progress.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor. Qualifications/Selection Criteria
    Education: Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, preferably in agriculture, including fisheries/aquaculture.
  • Required professional experience and key skills:
  • Two years of experience in implementing field activities in agriculture, aquaculture or fisheries.
  • Candidates with experience working with community farmers’ organizations and farmer groups will be
    preferred
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have general computer skills. 4. Demonstrated ability to analyze field data and present information at a high level for reporting purposes.
  • Proficiency in written English.
  • Comfortable and confident working in a diverse team, with good interpersonal and communication skills with a wide range of colleagues and partners.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to the counties in Liberia.
  • Excellent networking and negotiation skills with staff, value chain counterparts and partners. 9. Duties and Responsibilities
The Census Taker will be responsible for the following tasks:
Collect field data from beneficiaries of humanitarian intervention
Support the management of qualitative and quantitative survey data. Complete daily tasks assigned and submit collected notes to the supervisor. Support the documentation of lessons learned, best practices and innovations tested in program design. Eligibility Criteria
Education:
A relevant degree in social sciences or a related field (e.g., international development, public health, evaluation, statistics or economics, evaluation or a related field). Required Skills and Experience:
At least five (2) years of progressively responsible experience in designing, managing and implementing results-based RME activities. Hands-on experience in collecting qualitative and quantitative data
Experience in field research and evaluation for a donor-funded project is an asset. Hands-on knowledge in collecting data for research. Experience in conducting assessments, data collection, document/data review, transcribing survey recordings, and writing narrative reports. Specific experience with ODK and Microsoft Office suites. Experience in data analysis (for data quality sources)
Well-developed interpersonal skills in communication and relationship building. Good people management skills and excellent verbal communication skills
Ethics of telephone communication. Ability to listen, adapt, persuade to respond. Language Requirements:
Each candidate must be proficient in the following languages:
English: written and spoken
Verbal proficiency in at least two (2) Nigerian languages, which may include Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Efik, Kanuri, Pidgin and Uroboh

Required Qualifications and Experience
BSc/HND or above in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management or a related field
Must have at least 2 years experience in a supply chain/inventory management environment
Strong knowledge of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint and general computer usage
Ability to effectively manage competing project deadlines in a high-pressure work environment with varying degrees of supervision.
