The mission of the Gavi Vaccine Alliance (“Gavi”) is to save children’s lives and protect people’s health by improving access to immunization in poor countries.
Gavi is a unique organization that connects public and private resources in a global effort to create greater access to the benefits of immunization. It does this with precision and in creative and innovative ways to ensure that donor contributions effectively save lives and help build self-reliance in the world’s poorest communities and regions. Background: The Public Policy Engagement Team (PPE) is responsible for policy issues and public policy analysis at global and regional levels to shape policy and drive social engagement to increase equitable use and sustainable implementation of vaccines in countries and communities. The PPE works on policy and advocacy issues related to vaccine equity for the Gavi Secretariat, managing institutional engagements in multilateral fora, with the UN system, health and development partners, political networks and civil society, as well as with national and regional stakeholders.
The PPE team consists of three work areas that are reflected in the team structure: Global Advocacy and Policy Analysis, National and Regional Advocacy, and Civil Society and Partnerships. Description of service: the consultant is expected to: Coordinate the overall operation of the PPE team, including activities and budget planning, forecasting and performance, KPI data collection, etc. Become the focal point for external reporting, including data collection within the secretariat.
Write team performance reports.
Manage the briefing note development project on behalf of the team, collaborating with relevant teams across the secretariat and working with team members leading specific themes.
Manage the project to develop the advocacy strategy and external advocacy partnerships for 6.0
Provide support to the CSO group and team partnership. Supports the team in organizing other activities.
Required Qualifications and Professional Experience:
University Education
University degree in planning, project management, public health, political science, international relations or similar disciplines. A certificate in project management is highly desirable. Professional Experience
At least 4 years of professional experience in the international global health sector, including developed and developing countries.
Experience in project management and coordination is essential.
Exceptional writing experience required.
Experience in global health, humanitarian, equity and health emergency programs in low- and middle-income countries is a strong asset. Experience in politics, policy and defence is highly valued, particularly in support of strategy development. Experience in support teams is essential.
