The Government of Ireland International Scholarships (GOI-IES) programme supports high calibre international students wishing to study at NFQ levels 9 or 10 (Masters, Postgraduate Diploma or PhD) in Ireland.
The programme is funded by the Irish government in partnership with Irish higher education institutions and managed by the Higher Education Authority. Under this initiative, 60 scholarships are awarded each year for one year of full-time study at NFQ levels 9 or 10.

An Irish Government International Scholarship is a €10,000 scholarship for one year of full-time study at NFQ levels 9 or 10.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must have a place of origin outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the UK.
In the context of Russia’s ongoing aggression in Ukraine, Russian and Belarusian citizens are not eligible to apply.
Prospective applicants who have previously received a GOl-IES scholarship are not eligible to apply.
Applicants must apply for admission to a full-time, in-person master’s, graduate degree or doctoral program offered by an eligible higher education institution in accordance with that institution’s admissions procedures. Applicants must have a conditional or final offer of admission to this higher education institution at the time of application and will be required to send a copy. Before submitting an application through the online system, candidates must inquire directly with the relevant higher education institution about the eligibility of their course for GOl-IES.
If an applicant receives more than one offer, separate applications may be submitted for each course offer. A maximum of three applications may be submitted. The submission limit of three entries applies to all entries submitted, even if some of the entries submitted are not eligible.

excellent communication skills;
involvement in extracurricular activities, for example, humanitarian work, politics, arts or sport;
a strong rationale for continuing their studies in Ireland that demonstrates how a GOl-IES aligns with their long-term goals.

Applicants must demonstrate:
an exceptional record of academic achievement;
excellent communication skills;
involvement in extracurricular activities, such as humanitarian work, politics, the arts or sport;
a strong rationale for continuing their studies in Ireland that demonstrates how an Irish Government International Scholarship would align with their long-term goals.
