The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an international financial institution and specialized agency of the United Nations, dedicated to eradicating rural poverty and hunger. To do this, it invests in rural people. IFAD finances programs and projects that increase agricultural productivity and increase rural incomes and promotes policies at the local, national and international levels that contribute to rural transformation.
Young people bring invaluable knowledge, ideas and energy to society and the world of work. That is why IFAD offers six-month internship opportunities for recent university graduates or current students specializing in fields of work related to IFAD’s mission. Interns can complete an additional six-month internship, which provides them with access to a diverse learning experience and broadens their understanding of IFAD’s areas of work.
The internship programme provides a monthly stipend. In addition, to further promote geographical diversity, IFAD offers a higher monthly stipend (contributing to accommodation and travel costs) for interns from developing countries who are required to travel to their place of employment.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be 30 years of age or younger.
Be enrolled in an accredited university or graduate school, have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies, and have taken courses within the last 24 months; or have completed undergraduate or postgraduate studies within the last 24 months.
Speak English fluently. Knowledge of another official IFAD language (Arabic, French or Spanish) and/or any other language may be required, depending on the region of assignment.
