Building bridges, Creating Change: The Power of Youth Volunteering

Published

on

The conference “Building Bridges, Creating Change: The Power of Youth Volunteering” in February 2025 marks a significant milestone as stakeholders support new ambitions for the next phase of youth volunteering in the EU. The European Solidarity Corps Resource Centre SALTO, in collaboration with the Erasmus+ France Youth & Sport Agency in France, is organising this conference which aims to discuss the potential of a strong values-based European youth programme. As part of the strategic cooperation of national agencies to strengthen volunteering, the conference will demonstrate the profound impact of the Solidarity Corps programme on relevant actors in the volunteering landscape and beyond, to promote knowledge sharing and mutual support in creating a positive future.

The aim of the conference is to strengthen the European Solidarity Corps programme and youth volunteering in general.
Throughout the conference, we will highlight the transformative power of youth volunteering by addressing three themes:
First, we will look at how EU volunteering initiatives foster a deep sense of European belonging among participants and local communities, with a focus on solidarity, democracy and interculturality to foster a sense of common belonging, shared values and to improve intercultural understanding.
Second, we will highlight how volunteering enables young volunteers to become leaders of public mobilization who are committed to driving systemic change for environmental sustainability, thus contributing to a greener Europe.
Thirdly, we will explore how EU volunteering cultivates empathy and active citizenship, empowers young people as agents of solidarity in diverse communities, shapes long-term trajectories of inclusive citizenship and supports NGOs in crisis response, reflecting the EU’s commitment to unity and compassion.
Together, let us use the momentum of this conference to shape the future of EU youth volunteering, ensuring that it continues to be a cornerstone of positive change in Europe and beyond.
