Between 31 May 2022 and 30 September 2026, the FON project will disburse €7 million to CSOs, networks or feminist movements based in the 10 project countries. 65% of the grants will be disbursed to feminist organisations in Africa, 17.5% in Latin America and 17.5% in Asia.
The project aims to build the capacity of women’s movements, through grants and support for organisational development, in particular for small, often unregistered organisations, to combat gender-based violence.
Funding window 1:
Call for proposals (5,000 to 15,000 euros)
Its main objective is to help feminist CSOs address external challenges such as political instability or insecurity, as well as unforeseen internal events such as financial problems or the need for additional funds within the organization. This may include resolving cash flow problems, responding to urgent and unforeseen needs, securing co-financing to complete a project or activity, or attending a major industry event. The window is also open to CSOs who wish to apply in anticipation of future opportunities, whether related to the program, advocacy or otherwise. The key concepts in this window are emergency response, flexibility and seizing opportunities.
It is specifically designed to accommodate small and informal CSOs without strict seniority criteria.
Funding window 2:
Call for Proposals for Organizational Development (10,000 to 100,000 euros)
This funding opportunity is designed to help CSOs improve their organization, technical skills and program development. The main objective of this funding window is to help feminist CSOs ensure their long-term sustainability. This includes strengthening their capacities in areas such as financial management, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL), knowledge sharing (capitalization) and resource mobilization.
Funding window 3:
Call for proposals for networking (10,000 to 150,000 euros)
It welcomes applications that encourage dialogue, encounters and collaboration between feminist CSOs with the aim of bringing about transformative and systemic change. This includes networks, alliances, movements or any form of organised dialogue, whether already established or in the process of being formed.
Preference will be given to existing alliances and platforms. The component also takes into account the umbrella structures that some small and/or informal organisations host. In addition, CSOs receiving sub-grants under one of the three funding streams can benefit from training programmes and networking activities.
